Dr.
Rich
Several times a day patients thank me for helping them or their
children with their health problems. But I can’t take the credit.
My confession is this: I’ve never healed anyone of anything.
That’s right! Doctors don’t heal! What I do as a chiropractor is
perform a specific spinal adjustment to remove nerve pressure and
the body responds by healing itself. It’s as simple as that and it's
available to everyone!
Many years ago something happened that changed my life forever.
Let me introduce myself. My name is Dr. Richard Hagmeyer. It was
spring 1993 and I had a serious injury in which I developed a
painful condition in which I couldn't walk, I had lost all the
sensation in the back of my leg from my low back to my ankle and
into my toes. The pain in my back was so intense that I couldn't get
out of bed, put on my shoes or even dress myself.
I was afraid that I would be permanently disabled. I suffered from
an L5-S1 disc herniation. After considering surgery (that was the
only option, according to the orthopedic surgeon), I decided against
it. My cousin, who was studying to be a Chiropractor at Palmer
College of Chiropractic at the time, convinced me to give
chiropractic a try. The chiropractor did an exam, took special
x-rays, and then "adjusted" my spine into a better alignment. the
adjustment didn't hurt, it actually felt great.
I got tremendous relief after the first couple of treatments and
within a couple of weeks not only was my back feeling better and
stronger, my migraines were gone.
With continued adjustments I was able to feel my legs, tie my
shoelaces and walk again. At 19 I had my life back. It was a miracle
to me. No drugs -- no surgery! Chiropractic worked so well that I
went to chiropractic school. After earning my Bachelors, I went to
Palmer College of Chiropractic (Iowa) to earn my D.C. (Doctor of
Chiropractic).
So, what's your story? I invite you to
come in for a visit and let's talk about it. I look forward to
meeting you, and helping you on your journey to health and healing.
Essential Family Chiropractic
Center
We've been delivering quality chiropractic care to the
Naperville, Bolingbrook, Plainfield and surrounding community since
2000. Our approach is simple. We believe that health is among our
most valuable possessions. And while we generally meet people after
they’ve lost their health, our commitment is two-fold:
1. Relief Care for Illinois
When many people seek care in our office they have one goal:
pain relief. So that’s where we start! During this initial stage
of intensive care, we have several obligations:
-
Uncover the underlying cause of the health problem
-
Suggest a care plan to produce the fastest results possible
-
Offer ways patients can participate in their recovery
-
Explain the value of post-symptomatic wellness care
2. Wellness Care for Illinois
We encourage our patients to achieve the highest levels of health
they can. Through educational opportunities (like this website), we
hope to communicate the value of ongoing chiropractic care. Our
desire is to see our practice members abandon the prevailing
sickness care model of health (waiting for symptoms and then taking
action), in favor of the emerging wellness model.
"One of our goals is to instill hope in the hopeless," says
Dr. Hagmeyer . "If other doctors have given up on you, or you’re
to the point where you feel nothing else has worked… Don’t give up -
I’m here to tell you, there’s another way. True health can only come
from within, that’s why BJ Palmer called it The Big Idea.”
